Guess who got a J-O-B???

Meeeeeeeeeeee!!! Woo hoo!! Now, this was totally out of left field and providential all at the same time. Listen to this craziness…

Tommy tells me one day that the guy who owns a harness business in town sent him an email about us possibly doing contractual work for him. His name is Mike and the only thing I had ever heard about him was that he was a climber and that he sells his harnesses to the climbing gyms here in town. Everyone that ever talked about him said he was a really nice guy, though.

So, we have started a little business on the side called CrimpDaddy and I’m making chalk bags, buckets and t shirts that the guy who owns the gym is buying wholesale from us.  Mike said he saw our stuff and thought we might be able to help him make some parts of his harnesses. Well, these harnesses are made out of super tough webbing and my little Janome sewing machine would have never been able to handle it. However…a couple months ago I made a super splurge purchase on a huge industrial sewing machine, because I wanted to start making crash pads. Well, I made a couple pads…and while they are beautiful, they are a hell of a lot of work and more trouble than they’re worth. (If I do end up making any more, it will only be for buddies. haha)

Anyway, after I belted out those pads, I thought “God, I just spent all this money on this thing and I’m never gonna use it again!” Well, enter Mike and all his webbing. He offered me a job sewing parts for his harnesses using my mega machine…or as my good friend Stu calls it – The Giant Sewing Machine of Justice!!

The best part of all this is that I get to work from home and make my own hours. He gives me the parts, I sew them and then take them to him and pick up more. And believe it or not, I’m making pretty good money…MORE than I was making as an insurance agent when I worked for GEICO. Freakin’ crazy, right!? Honestly, I couldn’t believe this landed in my lap and I am so grateful. And Mike is the coolest guy ever. When I first met him, I wasn’t sure we were going to get along. You all know I’m super outgoing and energetic…well Mike is drier than the Sahara desert. But once you crack his shell, you find he’s got a wonderful sense of humor and a great disposition. He is just awesome. I am definitely counting my blessings today. Hooray!!!

All smiles for now...but honestly this work is hard on your hands!!
