Picked up Grandpa last night and went out to Winterhaven for our annual Christmas lights outing. The neighborhood is usually a zoo and I honestly was not looking forward to bobbing and weaving around all the people who were sure to attend. First off, it took us longer than usual to get to our parking spot – traffic was backed up atleast a quarter mile from the entrance so I knew it was going to take us forever to get things rolling. Come to find out, Tuesday is a “drive through” night. Not sure why the hell anyone would want to drive through this neighborhood to look at lights…Vehicles were lined up bumper to bumper down every street we walked. It had to take a car atleast 2 hours to get through all of it because there were so many…why would anyone willingly drive into a traffic jam that rivals rush hour on the 405 in California?? So we were actually pleasantly suprised because there were hardly any people walking!! (Honestly it was prolly a smart thing not to walk…the cop directing traffic at the entrance teased us for “braving the cars.” Tucson drivers don’t exactly have a good reputation. =) However, we didn’t get run over and most of the cars had little kids yelling out “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!” So cute. After the lights, we went and got sweet treats at our favorite dessert restaurant and then went back to Grandpa’s house so the kids could open their presents. We had a wonderful time – thanks for the fun Grandpa…We love you!!
*Grandpa – we forgot to take a family picture!! So bummed, so we’ll have to do it when we see you next…Love you!
