There is an old adage that goes “The best made plans are laid to waste…” That is exactly how Tommy and I felt after Will decided to show up 2 weeks early this past Monday. I’m not going to waste bandwidth giving you the gory details, but suffice it to say that everything that could have gone wrong with this delivery, did. In the last 5 minutes of my 14 hour labor, you would have thought they were filming the show “ER” in our delivery room. Nurses running everywhere, the doctor saying “This is your last try before we take you to the OR for a C-section” and my midwife looking me right in the eyes and saying “He’s right here!!PUSH!!!” Now that it’s over, we’ve looked back and decided we’re damn lucky to be taking home a beautiful, healthy baby boy, that despite being sent to the NICU came out with flying colors and impressed us all – and under all the circumstances, me being able to deliver him naturally. In the grand scheme of things, I still got to the end that I wanted – I just had to take a different route. This baby has shown us that no matter what life may throw at you, all you can do is roll with the punches – and realize that there is a silver lining to every situation.
So with that, allow me to introduce our second little son, William Lawrence Lind who came to us on Monday night, August 1st 2011. He weighed in at 5 pounds 10 ounces and was 17.5 inches long. Welcome home baby. 🙂
