A look at what we’ve done to our humble abode.

Master Bathroom Renovation Part 1

So, I know we told everyone that we were probably going to wait until later on in the year to tackle the master bathroom…but we just couldn’t do it. We were both feeling plucky and anxious and decided to start it while Tom had a good chunk of time off. For the past 2 weeks we’ve been tearing down walls, digging up concrete, shoveling dirt and nearly exhausting ourselves trying to get this thing done. Wow is all I can say. We’re probably about half way done but the hardest stuff is out of the way. Now we just have to put up drywall,  add the toilet and vanity, tile the floor, put in the door and fix the outside sheetrock in our bedroom. It’ll take a little longer than we expected, but I’m just glad we’ve started it. It’s going to look amazing!!

One more project to cross off the list – Side patio

We decided to get our butts in gear and finish our westside patio while we were motivated. It took us a total of 6 days to finish it and because our good friends Paul and April gave  us their old brick, our total cost was only $100!! Yeah! Tamped it down last night and enjoyed a little fire too. Now on to our next project…whatever that is.

The wheelbarrows are ready to work!
Prepped and ready to go
One of the several loads of brick from our buds
Pounding pavers...again

Cutting pavers in the dark - he didn't get in until 10:30 that night - yikes
Spreading rock around the border
All that's left is tamping

All done baby!
Ready for some mingling and a fire!

Laundry Room Remodel

So after taking a few trips up to Flagstaff, I started feeling guilty that we haven’t worked on a home project since we finished the backyard. It just doesn’t feel right not busting our asses! So last week, I decided to tackle the laundry room. I wanted this to be my project so I could learn how to cut and lay tile and also get it done in a quicker amount of time then if Tommy had to help me – not that he’s slow, just that I’d have more time to devote to it being at home.

So we started last Monday and finished up last night. What a difference some new tile and paint make. I’m really happy with the result and didn’t run into too many hiccups. The only thing left to do is install a skylight which will have to wait  until Winter since the attic is too hot to work in!

The back yard is DONE!!

After starting the arduous task of tackling the backyard last Oct, we are finally done…well with the big stuff, that is. We still have to put down some rock but the main patio area is finished and we are ready to enjoy it!!

Finished product!
Hooray!

Backyard work

Finally started cutting and laying brick this weekend in the backyard. Tedious work, but the final product will be worth it!
