Saturday fun in the Wilderness of Rocks

Our buddies from the gym invited us up to climb with them this weekend in  some areas they’ve been developing. I was under the assumption that the rocks we’d be tooling around on were right near the parking lot so I agreed and didn’t think it would be a big deal taking the boys. Well…I was wrong. I found out that our hike out was almost 1.5 miles and all uphill. Not too menacing when you’re only hauling yourself and your pad, but when you have a baby strapped to your chest or on top of your shoulders, carrying a huge crash pad and all your other crap, well…it’s not too much fun. The area was beautiful however and we got some good bouldering in. It was also nice to just get outside in the absolutely beautiful weather. So even though we’re totally friggin’ sore today, it was worth it…and the boys had a lot of fun playing in the dirt and hanging out with the other kids. Will we do it again…not sure yet. =)

What went wrong?

My sweet little boy has turned into a monster. I’m not sure what happened…Will was my sweet baby…my little Angel.

Well, that little angel has sprouted horns and a forked tail and chaos has ensued in our house. I’ll give you some examples. Our new phrase that is yelled atleast 100 times a day is “NO, WILL!” I was running late last Monday trying to get Henry ready for school. After I finally got everything together, I couldn’t find the baby. I yelled his name a couple times but he was nowhere to be found – which of course means he’s getting into some serious trouble. Finally I heard something strange in the bathroom and looked in. Here’s William, soaking wet standing in water all over the floor. SOMEHOW, I have NO freaking clue how, he had broken off the toilet seat and climbed in the toilet. I couldn’t freaking believe it. So I yelled something (expletive ridden, I have to admit) and ripped his clothes and diaper off and was late getting Henry to school.

A couple days later, I can’t find him AGAIN so Henry and I break out in a search party and find him hiding in the guest room chomping down on a crayon. As soon as he saw me he threw the crayon at me and tried to run away. THE SAME DAY, he steals a marker from Henry’s crayon bag, gets the top off and starts munching down on that. It looked like he had eaten an octopus – his mouth and teeth were totally black…and I’m sure you can imagine, his diaper changes were quite interesting.

A few nights ago, Tommy’s feeding him some chunks of finger food and Will decides he doesn’t want it, has a tantrum and throws the food at Tom. Tom scolds him and William proceeds to spit his food out at him. Last night, we’re working out and we hear some weird coughing sounds coming from Will. He’s sitting over by the cat door and we find him stuffing cat litter in his mouth.  I’m curios if anyone has invented a baby straight jacket?

I never thought I would be saying that our sweet boy is now our older one. Henry has turned into a love bug. He has a huge crush on his teacher and has written her a couple love notes already. He makes sure to hug her every day before he leaves. Man, he is gonna get his little heart broken so much when he gets older. =( I’m not looking forward to his crushes on girls. UGH. He loves school and has been doing so well. His new obsession is the planets. He’s learned how to pull up Google Earth on Tommy’s laptop and looks at Mars, Earth, the sky and the moon. It’s crazy to see him sitting on the couch all focused on the computer. He’s so much like his dad. =)

Other than my hellion child and Henry, things have been busy. We’re trying to get all our home improvement projects done and out of the way. Our big one is the roof which we’ll bust out this winter. Then, it’s just the little stuff that we’re doing here and there. It’ll be nice to get them done.

Anyway, sorry again for the delay in posts – we seriously have been busy. I’ll try and keep up better ( I know, I know, I always say that). Hope all is well with everyone out there.

***UPDATE*** As you can tell, I am AWESOME at posting this stuff on time. So this post was supposed to go up like 2 weeks ago but I was lazy and didn’t download the pictures. Well, during the interum, we went and visited my mom up in NM and worked on her house. While we were there, Will fell on the fireplace mantle, busted his lip and chipped his tooth. It was so sharp, I was worried he’d bite another hole in his lip so I had to file it down with a nail file. It’s not too obvious, but it’s there if you’re looking. Also, Henry decided that he wanted to climb over the baby gate at the top of the stairs and instead broke it  tumbled down half of them and slammed into the wall. He was fine – just scared…and so was Uncle Joe. HAHA. I swear these children are going to be the death of us.

Not happy
Am I still in trouble?
How can I be mad at this face?
This is no longer an uncommon occurance in our house - another one of Will's drive by's.

Tommy complains now because he has to share with Henry. HA!

Nice long weekend…

Well, Will got sick at the beginning of this last week and then passed it off to Henry near the end. On Friday we kept him home from school since he was snotting all over the place and went up the mountain for a little getaway. We tooled around on some boulders while we were up there and enjoyed the nice cool weather. It was beautiful. We’re heading out to Bishop again this Thanksgiving so we want to start getting outside more often to get our hands ready! We found a really cool boulder outcropping up on the mountain that we’re anxious to get back to and check out. We’ll let you know how it goes. =)

Tommy’s birthday was yesterday and we celebrated it by taking a trip to Goodwill to get rid of a bunch of stuff!! Ha! (We need room for new stuff…hee hee) Anyway, both boys are on the up and up and we downed enough vitamin C to keep ourselves healthy this go around. Other than that, things are chugging along. Hope all is well with everyone out there!

We put shoes on Will for the first time over the weekend...he HATED them!
Henry was content enough to sit on the side of a cliff and throw rocks almost the entire time. Ha!

Date Night

About a week or so ago, Tommy and I went to a banquet celebrating he and his classmates graduation from a leadership course. It was the first time in a LONG TIME that we’ve been able to REALLY dress up so I was pretty excited. =) It was a good time, the people were super nice and it was a treat to see Tommy in a suit and tie – he cleans up pretty nice. =) My ankle was still a little tender from my Hueco fall THREE MONTHS AGO (ugh) so it was definitely a  feat trying to walk around in heels, but I didn’t fall down the stairs or on my face so I’d say it went pretty well!!

A photographer was taking couple shots
The more "appropriate" version haha
